About
— Harrison Chambers —
Hi! My name is Harrison Chambers, and I love making things.
I am an Art Director and Production Designer with 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry. Whether you are looking for a Department Head to comfortably helm an elevated project from concept to completion, an all around creative problem solver who is as logistically efficient as he is aesthetically ambitious, or a strong project manager / crew lead with international and award nominated experience - I am an excellent addition to any Art Department or Creative Team.
My greatest strength is my ability to find logistically efficient creative solutions through thorough preparation and planning. With a strong background in theatre, art, architecture, design, engineering, fabrication, project management, and filmmaking, I have developed an innate sense of perspective, foresight, and understanding of production. Whether leading a team, managing complex logistics, or transforming concepts into reality, with as solid a foundation and understanding of construction and engineering as color palettes and camera, I adapt quickly and always deliver the highest standard of quality no matter how tight the turnaround. From international tours and $100+million productions on the largest soundstages in America, to the scraping scratching scramble of zero budget indie features, I thrive on turning creative challenges into practical, efficient solutions.
Anyone can dream without limits or boundaries. I specialize in making the impossible possible, practical, and manageable - turning ambitious visions into magical realities.
I have been designing worlds and building sets since I could put pencil to paper. From popsicle stick forts and clay soldiers, to kit-bashing Legos and Warhammer models, I have spent my life filling notebooks with sketches, ideas, doodles, and dreams. This unending need for the arts as a child followed me to the stage where I was heavily involved in choir, theatre, musicals, etc. At 15 I was accepted to study Architecture at Tulane University, but after Hurricane Katrina re-routed my path, I pivoted to Engineering before ultimately returning to the theatre, where I became a regional Technical Director and eventually a teacher, teaching Theatrical Design and Tech at the Los Angeles High School of the Arts. I spent my summers making short films and dipping my toes in the film world, and after a couple of years I was getting enough calls to take a permanent crack at working in the industry, working heavily as a custom fabricator and Construction Coordinator for non-union shows, until I joined IATSE 44 and spent five years working on major productions for Apple, Sony, Netflix, 20th Century, etc.
In recent years I’ve shifted focus to further develop my own career. In that time, I have Production Designed several indie features and series, with more set to release soon, and I am honored to have been offered membership in the Art Directors Guild - IATSE ADG 800. Along the way, I’ve written four screenplays, won multiple awards for my docu-series pilot Dreamchasers, and worked as a Production Manager for an Internationally touring exhibition company, with stops including Stockholm, Paris, Amsterdam, Melbourne, Lausanne, and Brussels.
Every project faces unexpected challenges, but the key to navigating them is thorough preparation. The more we control upfront, the more easily we can adapt when issues arise. Poor planning leads to inefficiency and risk, while effective management ensures a smooth, safe environment. I specialize in intelligent project and crew management, with a keen understanding of other departments’ needs. With strong communication skills, both digital and interpersonal, and a diverse range of experience, I foster a collaborative, adaptable team dynamic that thrives on the unpredictable nature of production.
True creativity flourishes under pressure, and I excel when faced with the impossible.
Throw me into the fire and see - let’s tackle the challenges together!
